ABOUT VSA

Founded in 2000, Baylor Vietnamese Student Association continues to share Vietnamese culture throughout Baylor's campus. As an org, we emphasize on community and fun through our family system as we support each other through our time here at Baylor, whether that be studying together, playing intramural sports, going to Baylor games, attending food socials, or just about anything you can think of. We also host a variety of events during the school year as a way to share our Vietnamese culture with students and with the Waco community. We welcome people from all backgrounds!

family(Gia Đình)

Here at Baylor VSA, we highlight the fact that the people you meet here will become your second family and help make Baylor your second home.

All members at the beginning of the year are divided into families - each led by 1-3 officers. Due to the large amount of members, we hope that dividing into families will provide members a better opportunity to get to know each other outside of VSA-hosted events.

Families will be able to host food socials, game nights, and family events throughout the year to allow for smaller group bonding! Additionally, families will occasionally merge with other families!

 (Cộng Đồng)community

Baylor VSA wouldn't be where it is at today without the help of Baylor faculty and staff along with the Waco community. Every semester, Baylor VSA participates in Baylor's Steppin' Out campus-wide volunteer event.

We also hosts fundraisers to raise money for matters we care about, such as the BLM movement over the summer, and our upcoming fundraiser for the devastating floods in Vietnam.

Every Spring semester, we also host a charity formal and invite VSAs all over the Southern region to join as we raffle prizes, feature performances, and end the night off with a fancy dinner. Money raised from this event goes straight to a charity of our choice!

CULTURE(Văn Hoá)

We know Baylor may be different from where you came from, and it's not like Waco has a lot of Vietnamese restaurants and markets. At Baylor VSA, we try to bring the culture to you.

Every fall, we host an Autumn Moon Festival highlighting the Vietnamese holiday Tet Trung Thu where we invite performers, dragon dancers, and serve free mooncakes to all attendees. Our festival also includes Vietnamese songs, a cultural dance, and an ao dai fashion show.

In the spring, we host an Asian Night Market for Baylor's campus where we feature banh mi, cha gio, and che thai!

Through our family system and our anh/chi/em system, we hope to a little bit of Vietnam to you!
